This is a clip from the 1957 film Fata Ahlami (My Dream Guy) starring Abdel Halim Hafez and Abd el Salam el Naboulsi and featuring a 17 year old Farida Fahmy dancing with Mahmoud Reda. Curiously, in the film credits her name is listed as NELDA and not as Farida Fahmy. She and Mahmoud Reda play the roles of dancers at this particular casino. The film credits also list Ali Reda (Mahmoud Reda's brother) as the choreographer/dance coach.
And much more here!
How beautiful is this? Not really belly dance, but had to share!

This is a rare gem from the 1945 Egyptian film 'Rabha' produced by one of the lions of early Egyptian cinema, Niazi Mustapha (Mostafa). 'Rabha' starred his wife Kouka who had begun her career as a film editor. In his early days Mustapha worked with Badia Masabni and her troupe which at that time included Tahiya Carioca.
While married to Kouka, Mustapha secretly married dancer Naemet Mokhtar. When Kouka found out, she gave Mustapha a 'her-or-me' ultimatum and Naemet was quickly and very publicly divorced. Naizi Mustapha died on 19 October 1986 when he was murdered in his apartment in Cairo.

ETA: thanks for the people who pointed this out to me, this is Sadie and this song was not the song that came with this performance. Someone edited this Kurdish song over it.

I am terrible, I keep promising fresh new clips and I never post! Well I got some news:
I am going to be a regular poster on another belly dance blog (will soon post the link when the first post has been made) plus I will start digging for clips when I am back from yet another travel. I have just been too busy.
Busy is good though, but I can do with some new clips too. I have had so many clips sent in and it will be worth while to have a look at them :)
I will post new ones soon, I am making a new costume, it is taking up all my time :)
I am traveling, new clips will come soon!
